My take on having an African American Course

I think african american studies is a great course to take in college. its not everday that you get to learn about your culture. About all the great black women and men that have fought to give us the freedom that we have to this very day. I dont think that the great African American Leaders from the past get the respect and notification that they deserve. How many black holidays do we have or better yet that we actually celebrate and discuss as a whole outside of this class.i feel that now would be geat time to make this course a must take class especially with a black president aboard. this class shuld be taking further then just a college course. kids around the country should start learning about this type of stuff in middle school and maybe as early as sixth grade so when they do get to high school they wont be just completely lost and will have somewhat knowledge of their black heroes.
